How we compare POS systems
Every ranking and comparison in this guide uses the same six criteria, with the same weights, for every system, including KwickPOS.
| Criterion | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Fit for the restaurant type | 25% | Whether the system handles the workflows that type of restaurant runs every day, such as open tabs for bars, delivery zones for pizzerias, coursing for fine dining. |
| Total cost over three years | 25% | Software, hardware, card processing and fees, from the vendor's public pricing. Where a vendor does not publish a price, we say so instead of guessing. |
| Payment terms and flexibility | 15% | Whether you must use the vendor's card processing, and what leaving costs. |
| Reliability | 15% | What keeps working when the internet drops, per the vendor's own documentation. |
| Support and onboarding | 10% | Published support hours, channels and setup help. |
| Contract and data portability | 10% | Contract length, cancellation terms, and whether you can export your data. |
Where the facts come from
Each vendor's own public pricing, feature and support pages. We record the date we checked each fact next to it, so you can see how current it is, and we recheck an article's vendor facts whenever we update it. We do not use anonymous reviews, and we do not invent statistics: a number in an article either links to its source or is labeled as an example.
What we leave out
Star ratings and scores out of five. A single number hides the trade-offs that matter for your restaurant, so we describe them instead.
